Springtime 2008...
will see the opening of the new Gallery.
A spacious interior will
accommodate new ranges of Art and Crafts.
It was a cold, stormy night in November 1879. A sailing ship was making it’s way from New York to Gothenburg but was driven aground on a rocky reef. The crew were safely rescued at morning light. The large deck cabin was removed from the wreck and was used as a dwelling house for the next 123 years.
Step inside the original cabin, and read the Captain’s account of the voyage across the Atlantic. Also, get a glimpse of island life from a bygone era in a highly detailed model crofting/fishing community.
Anecdotes and artifacts will also provide a world wide perspective on this time in history
...Then, rest a while with a cup of tea or coffee and homebakes.
In the meantime.....
the original Gallery is still open for business. You are very welcome to call along and see the wide range of quality pictures and cards which are available.
If you cannot make it to Westray we are happy to take orders by email (via our Contact Us Page) or telephone and send them, well packaged, by post.
